Following the appeal court’s affirmation of governor Alex Otti, the Abia State Labour Party Chairman, Mr Ceekay Igara, has charged opposition parties and their candidates to sheath their swords and join hands with the governor in bringing “actual dividends of democracy in the state.
Igara who doubles as the chairman, council of Labour Party chairmen, in a press release on Saturday, lauded the judiciary for upholding the mandate Abians “freely gave Dr Alex Otti”.
Igara also called on all lovers of democracy and sustainable development to continue praying for the governor to deliver his promises to Abians.
ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER, AFNEWS had reported that the appellate court on Saturday, dismissed the appeal filed against Otti by the APC and PDP for lacking merit.
The judges had described the appellants’s Petitions as a comedy skit which should not have come before the judiciary.
The press statement read;
On behalf of The Executive Governor of Abia State Dr Alex Otti OFR and Labour Party Abia State and in the diaspora, we once again congratulate Abians and indeed all people of goodwill for the affirmation of the people’s governor today by the appeal court.
We appreciate God Almighty who in his wisdom brought the Governor who’s the will of the people to lead them for the first time in the state and we also appreciate the judiciary for upholding the mandate of the people.
I on behalf of the Labour Party Abia State encourage our brothers and sisters in the opposition to join hand with His Excellency Dr Alex Otti OFR and Labour Party Government in Abia State to deliver the actual dividends of democracy as promised to them during our campaigns.
I therefore request everyone who’s interested in the sustenance of the development in infrastructure and other areas currently ongoing in the State to continue to pray to God Almighty for strength and wisdom to deliver.
We equally encourage our teeming members and particularly Abians and other Nigerians living in Abia State to put their believe in the mantra of judiciary being the last hope of the common man and in the capacity of the judiciary to upholding the mandate of the people freely given to us.
