Jim Iyke, the Nigerian actor, has received a chieftaincy title in Accra, Ghana.
The film star was honoured on September 18 during an event marking this year’s yam festival.
The organisers of the event said Jim Iyke’s “servitude and dedication to the Igbo tribe” earned him dignity.
“Also it is in recognition of his enormous contributions and charity work for his people. He was fully welcomed and appreciates the Igbo community in Ghana for the support rendered to him,” they said.
Jim Iyke began acting in 2001.
He started a movie production company named Untamed Productions in 2007.
The actor also created his own music record label named Untamed Records.
His first album, titled ‘Who Am I?’, featured TuFace Idibia and the late Sound Sultan.
Speaking of his emergence as an entertainer, Jim Iyke earlier said: “My generation came through the fire, blood, the tears, and sweat.
“Anybody can be an overnight success on social media these days. If you have any decent acting skills, you become a superstar in no time,” the 45-year-old said.
“It’s not to knock the hustle or the opportunities that avail themselves. I’m just saying that I came from a different time where you had to fight and claw for it. We had to deal with lots of pressure that are not prevalent these days.
