The Isuikwuato Nwanneukwu Cultural Festival is gaining momentum as IDU leaders engage key stakeholders. Why the visit to Onyekwere matters—read full story.

The President General of the Isuikwuato Development Union (IDU), Chief Chidiebere Uguru, has paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Onyekwere Akym Uche, the 2023 governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in Abia State, as preparations intensify for the forthcoming Isuikwuato Nwanneukwu Cultural Festival.

The delegation, led by Chief Uguru, visited Onyekwere at his country home in Amaba, Isuikwuato Local Government Area, in what community leaders described as a strategic engagement aimed at fostering unity, cultural pride, and broad-based participation in the landmark event.

During the visit, Chief Uguru briefed Onyekwere in detail on the concept, objectives, and progress made so far toward the Isuikwuato Nwanneukwu Cultural Festival, which is designed to promote brotherhood, cultural heritage, and collective development among Isuikwuato people at home and in the diaspora.

As a symbolic gesture, the IDU President General formally decorated Onyekwere with the official Nwanneukwu festival uniform, describing him as a respected son of the soil whose influence could further strengthen community participation.

Chief Uguru urged Onyekwere not only to attend the festival but to actively support the event and mobilise his followers within and outside Isuikwuato to ensure a successful outing.

Responding, H.E. Onyekwere Akym Uche expressed deep appreciation for the visit and the honour of being decorated with the festival attire. He commended the IDU leadership for conceptualising the festival and praised the dedication of the working committee.

Onyekwere described the Nwanneukwu Cultural Festival as a timely initiative capable of strengthening unity, preserving culture, and projecting Isuikwuato positively to the wider world.

He assured the delegation of his personal support and the full backing of his followers, pledging not only to attend but also to contribute meaningfully to the success of the event.

The Isuikwuato Nwanneukwu Cultural Festival is scheduled to hold from December 23 to 24, 2025, and is expected to attract dignitaries, cultural enthusiasts, and sons and daughters of Isuikwuato from across Nigeria and beyond.

Governor Alex Otti is billed as the Special Guest of Honour, while H.E. General Ike Nwachukwu (Rtd) will serve as Chairman of the occasion. Former Isuikwuato Local Government Chairman, Chief Charles Ojukwu, has been named Father of the Day.

Community stakeholders say engagements like the visit to Onyekwere underscore the growing momentum behind the festival and the collective resolve to make it a unifying and memorable celebration.
