The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has sent a warm message of goodwill to the people of Abia State on the occasion of this year’s Christmas celebration.
Governor Ikpeazu notes that the Christmas is about the most significant celebration in christendom as it marks the birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ, an event that signposts the commencement of the redemption of man from eternal damnation.
The Governor is particularly pleased and thankful to the Almighty God for the prevailing atmosphere of peace and security in the State which has made it possible for a large number of Abians in the Diaspora to make it home to enjoy the yuletide with their kith and kin in different communities across the State.
According to the Governor, “it is nothing short of a miracle and clear evidence of the love of God Almighty that our state enjoys relative peace and tranquility at a time like this when many parts of the country are battling with security concerns of different kinds”.
The Governor welcomes our people in the Diaspora who are here for the Christmas and urges them to feel free to move around the State with a view to making useful suggestions to the State Government. He thanks them for their sustained support to his administration through several interventions, especially in the area of health and education.
The Governor assures that while security is of God, his administration will continue to do all within her power to support the fantastic work of our various security agencies in the State in their bid to secure the lives and property of our people.
Governor Ikpeazu uses the opportunity of this Christmas to appreciate the people of Abia State for their steadfast support to his administration in the last seven and half years, especially as this will be his last Christmas as Governor.
In his words, “This year’s Christmas is special in many ways. In particular, it will be my last Christmas as your Governor and it is appropriate for me to place on record, my gratitude and that of my family to the good people of Abia State for their love and support to our administration all these years. It has been the greatest honor of my life yet, being your Governor.
The Governor believes strongly that a lot of progress has been recorded by his administration, especially in the area of peace, security and infrastructural development.
According to the Governor, “While we may not have solved all our problems, we have recorded a lot of progress and we are prepared to do more. We will keep working for our people till our last day in office in May next year”.
He further urges Abians to imbibe the true message of the Christmas which is to uphold the virtues of love, peace and good neighborliness, and to avoid any acts capable of upsetting the peace and tranquility in the State.
Governor Ikpeazu wishes all Abians a beautiful Christmas celebration and happy holidays.
