I Will Not Disappoint Abians – Alex Otti Says; Issues Warning To Looters
The Abia state governor-elect, Dr Alex Otti on Wednesday, March 29, received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), where he assured Abians that he will not disappoint the trust they have placed on him by giving him their mandate.
Otti while speaking at the INEC headquarters in Umuahia, the state capital, affirmed that the high expectations of Abians has placed a huge responsibility on him as the incoming governor.
He however promised that though the responsibilities are huge, he will not fail Abians neither will he betray the rare confidence the people have on him.
” Your expectations have put a huge responsibility on us. I won’t fail Abians who have waited for opportunity like this for a new dawn.
” You will not be disappointed. I won’t betray the confidence you have in me“, Otti pledged.
Further in his speech, Otti advised all those who has funds and properties belonging to Abia state to return it, warning that he will not allow the common resources of the people to be pocketed by selfish individuals.
In his words;
” I call on those who have looted Abia funds to return it immediately. We can’t allow our resources to be converted to a private estate while Abians are wallowing in abject poverty.”
Earlier in his speech while issuing the certificate of return, the National Commissioner of INEC, Festus Okoye commended Abians for their resolve to vote and protect their votes adding that no single institution can conduct an election that beats national and international standards alone without collective efforts.
Other dignitaries at the event include; the deputy governor-elect, Engineer Ikechukwu Emetu, Honourable Iheanacho Obioma (Otti’s campaign DG), Mr Ceekay Igara (Labour Party state chairman), Senator Emma Nwaka (PDP governorship aspirant), among others.
