A former signee of the Marlian record, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly called MohBad, has died at the age of 27.
Mohbad’s death was disclosed by his management on his social media handles on Tuesday.
”It is with great sadness that we confirm the passing of Promise Oladimeji Aloba PK/A Mohbad (Imole) today, the 12th of September, 2023.
“Mohbad was light until the very end, and as we mourn the loss of the brightness he carried, the family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.
Taking to Instagram to mourn, Mohbad’s 24-year-old baby mama identified as Wunmi, said Mohbad lived an unhappy life filled with struggles, pains and fears which increased after the birth of their now five-month-old baby, Liam.
Wunmi, on her Insta story; @c33why, shared a picture of the baby she had with the singer, and wrote;
“This Nigga struggled till de-ath, too many pains, threatening (sic). He had always lived with fears, continuous f-ights everywhere he goes to, he has never been happy for a whole day… he was called a junkie, a mad person, mental issue so the public would have another view about him… he’s dead at least you all won, take your trophy.
“Ya’ll made a widow at 24 years ???? Olorun idajo re daaa (sic).
“Nothing makes him happy no more, even after seeing his baby he became more worried, he’s now a family man he doesn’t want anything to happen to us…
“I was supposed to collect my baby’s passport yesterday so we could process our travelling, he always says to me… Wunmi pls go for my baby’s sake, I wouldn’t want these people to harm you and him it will break me… You just go, let me face them myself. Ilerioluwa rest in peace… You really need that peace”.
Recall that in January, singer,Abiola Akinbiyi, popularly known as Bella Shmurda alleged that Mohbad attempted su1cide at a time over an issue he had with his record label.
Speaking in an interview with Chude Jidenowo,Shmurda said;
“I don’t have to say this, but I’ll say it. There was a point where me and Mohbad we were in an apartment. Mohbad wanted to jump from the upstairs because of this label issue.”
Narrating the incident, he said they stopped Mohbad from the act after his girlfriend discovered him sitting by the window.
He also revealed that Mohbad was visiting the hospital to treat hypertension, adding; “Why? Because say you dey label. It can’t continue. Someone has to talk.”
In 2019, Mohbad issued his first EP, Light, after agreeing to a record deal with Marlian Records World.
The eight songs on the EP feature Davido, Naira Marley, and Lil Kesh.
After two years, he announced his departure from Marlian Records.
On 5 October 2022, Mohbad accused singer Naira Marley of domestic vio-lence and stated that his former boss ordered people to beat him up when he confronted Marley about his decision to employ a different manager to handle his music and business affairs.
After the fight with his boss, Mohbad launched his own record label called “Imolenization” in November, 2022.
Mohbad is best known for his hit singles Ponmo, Feel Good, and KPK (Ko Por Ke) with Rexxie.
He was nominated three times for The Headies Awards 2022.
