How Ondo Deputy Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Allegedly Assaulted His Wife | READ DETAILS
The Society for Women Empowerment (SWE), a civil society group, has accused the deputy governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, of assaulting his wife, Oluwaseun even in the presence of his staff and friends.
The SWE in a statement issued on Sunday by it’s National Coordinator, Damilola Charles, alleged that Aiyedatiwa beats up his wife and leaves her with injuries, adding that it is disturbing for the deputy governor to allegedly commit such crime and be allowed to cover it up.
The group also alleged that the deputy governor’s wife fled the country to the United Kingdom because of the assault she receives from her husband.
“It is unacceptable that a deputy governor would physically assault his wife and inflict grievous bodily injuries on her”.
“Those who occupy public offices are expected to be above board and conduct themselves in a manner that would inspire the people and serve as role models.
“It is shocking to discover that the deputy governor assaulted his wife severely to the point that the wife had to escape to the United Kingdom to save her life.
“The deputy governor has broken moral decorum and acted in a manner that brings his office into disrepute. We are, to say the least, disappointed with this embarrassing conduct” the statement read.
Meanwhile, the deputy governor’s wife wrote on her social media handle;
“According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), one in three women worldwide have experienced physical and/or se-xual violence at a point in their lives. This staggering statistic highlights the pervasive nature of domestic violence and its impact on women globally. Say no to domestic violence!”
