… The tragic death of Jacqueline, who arrived Nigeria from the U.S. to reunite with her lover, has raised fresh questions as police detain the boyfriend and begin full investigation.
The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the sudden and mysterious death of a 60-year-old American woman, identified simply as Jacqueline, who travelled all the way from the United States to visit her Nigerian boyfriend in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to reports, Jacqueline had landed in Nigeria on September 15 to spend time with her partner, identified as Alawode. However, what was meant to be a romantic reunion turned tragic within days as the visitor allegedly developed unexpected health complications.
She was quickly rushed to a hospital in Warri, but doctors confirmed she was already dead on arrival, throwing her partner and locals into shock.
Police spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, adding that Alawode has since been arrested as detectives open a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
While police are yet to establish the exact cause, the case has sparked public curiosity and concern, especially given Jacqueline’s long journey from the United States just to be with her Nigerian lover.
The Delta State Police Command assured that a thorough probe will be carried out, stressing that all findings will be made public once investigations are concluded.
