The people of Atan Abam in Arochukwu local government area of Abia state has become beneficiaries of the philanthropic works of Chief Chijioke James Ume (Ike Abam), founder, Unubiko foundation as he commissioned and handed over three projects in the community on Sunday, December 25, 2022.

 

Projects commissioned by Ume, includes, a brand new St Andrew’s Presbyterian church building and a bus; women development centre and Ovukwu Abam Secondary School, Atan Abam which has 7 blocks of 35 classrooms, equipped with modern educational facilities, a fully furnished administrative building, Teachers’ quarters, a Corpers lodge, Laboratories and a School Hall.

Chief James Umeh and his elder brother, professor Kenneth Kalu promised to initiate a prestigious scholarship program to be named, “ADA & OGBO DI YA” which will be for brilliant young girls in Atan Abam community who shows resilience in learning and character.

 

The duo pledged to sponsor the scholarship scheme with an upfront of N20million assuring that as time progresses, the prestigious scholarship will be expanded to accommodate others.

All these, they said are in loving memory of their mothers; late elder Mrs Ada O. kalu, and late Elder Mrs Ogbodiya Peter.

Earlier in his admonition, the Prelate of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria and Moderator of the General Assembly, His Eminence Dr Ekpenyong Nyong Akpanik charged the congregation to always appreciate God’s goodness at all times and also use their resources to touch lives.

 

“Don’t take God’s goodness for granted. It is not by your hard work that God is blessing you. What immortalises a man is not what he does for himself but what he does for others” the prelate charged.

He added;

“Greatness is not a function of possession but a function of service to humanity”.

He prayed God to continue blessing the two brothers and cause their families to always smile.

 

Dr. Alex Otti, OFR was on ground to commission the classroom projects at Atan Abam Community. While speaking, Dr. Otti pledged to fix Abia State when elected the governor of the state come 2023.
