HON. AARON UZODIKE: CUPP Gives Abia Speaker One Week Ultimatum, Set To Protest
The Coalition of the United Political Parties (CUPP) Abia state chapter, is set to declare a state-wide peaceful protest if Hon. Aaron Uzodike is not sworn in as member representing Aba North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly.
The group went further to reveal that they have written an intervention letter to the governor, where they demanded the immediate compliance with the judgement of the appellate court which ruled in favour of Hon. Aaron Uzodike.
In his words, “recall that after the refusal of the speaker to swear in Hon. Uzosike six months after his victory at the Appeal court and issuance of the certificate of Return by INEC, made the CUPP write an intervention letter to the governor, Dr Otti, demanding compliance with the judgment of the appellate court in accordance with democratic tenets and rule of law”, he said.
CUPP finally called on the members of the public, lovers of democracy and justice, civil societies to join en mass to resist threat to democracy which is capable of disrupting the relative peace in the Abia State.
The peaceful protest is billed to kick off on Wednesday May 22nd 2024 if the Speaker did not do the needful.
