Akwa Ibom Governor Announces Increased Monthly Payments for Students

In a significant boost for students in Akwa Ibom State, Governor Umo Eno has approved a new monthly bursary scheme that will provide ₦20,000 for undergraduates and ₦30,000 for postgraduate students. This announcement was made during the Youths Appreciation Rally held on Wednesday at Uyo Township Stadium.

  • Increased Bursary Amounts: Starting this academic session, all undergraduate students will receive ₦20,000 monthly, an increase from the previous ₦10,000. Postgraduate students will now receive ₦30,000 monthly, up from ₦10,000.
  • Special Bursary for Specific Fields: Medical, law, engineering, and agriculture undergraduates will also benefit from the ₦30,000 monthly payment, aligning them with postgraduate students.

Governor Eno highlighted this initiative as part of the state’s commitment to supporting higher education and ensuring that students in critical fields have the resources they need to succeed.

“This increase is aimed at easing the financial burden on our students and supporting their academic endeavors,” Eno stated.
