Orji Uzor Kalu, a Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District who doubles  as the Chief Whip of the House of Senate, has called on  Federal Government to consider paying salaries to public university lecturers while negotiations are ongoing.

The former Abia state governor made this plea on his official Facebook page.

He said, ” I would like to appeal to both Academic Staff Union of Universities and Federal Government to rechange their stand on the multiple students that are out of campus, a lot of students from my constituency have been calling me and i feel it is a godly thing for all Nigerians,  to put our hands together to return ASUU back to work and also  save the family of ASUU members because some of them are starving to death”
