 Gov. Ikpeazu Visits Accident Scenes in Aba, Sympathizes With Families, Gives Directives

Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has directed the immediate closure of the abattoir/cattle market located at Waterside River area of Ogbor Hill, Aba and relocate it to the New Omuma Uzor Abattoir in Ukwa West LGA

Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has directed the immediate closure of the abattoir/cattle market located at Waterside River area of Ogbor Hill, Aba and relocate it to the New Omuma Uzor Abattoir in Ukwa West LGA

 

Dr lkpeazu who gave the directive when he visited the accident scene of a loaded trailer that lost control and fell into the abattoir resulting in casualties also directed the immediate relocation of the proximal Ahia Udele market to Good Morning Market.

 

The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu said the information which filtered in during the Executive Council Meeting, but hurriedly cut short in order to visit the scene of the incident commiserated with the affected traders and families.

 

He reiterates that the closure of the abattoir/cattle market at Waterside River area of Ogbor Hill, Aba, became urgent following the public health advice, which came from the Ministries of health and environment and charged the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Chief John Okiyi Kalu and his Homeland Security counterpart, Chief Sopuruchi Bekee to work with relevant Security Agencies to ensure compliance.

 

The Governor appreciated the market leadership and all that assisted in evacuating and conveying the wounded to the hospital and described the incident as a huge loss to the State however reaffirmed his vision to ensure that traders do their businesses in a safer and healthier environment.
