Gov. Alex Otti’s Govt. Reveals Plans To Build Tourism In The State
As Abians joins the world to celebrate the 2023 Tourism Day, the Abia State government led by Dr Alex Otti, OFR has restated it’s stance on building and projecting tourism sites in the state to attract tourists, help boost the economy and make the state the envy of all.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, the Senior Special Assistant to the Abia State governor on Tourism and Entertainment, Dr. Martins Okechukwu Justice (J Martins), noted that governor Otti’s administration is working on rejigging about 17 tourism sites scattered in various parts of the state including the Azumiri blue river which would result in creating good road networks, creating jobs and developing host areas with the help of investors.
“We are going to have leisure parks in Umuahia, Aba and Ohafia; all these are to return the state back to it’s glory.
“Yes we are coming from 24 years of darkness, but give us 4 years, we will make remarkable progress” he added.
Justice revealed that the state government is engaging the Federal government to retrieve the management of some of the tourism sites located in the state.
He called on all Abians to join hands with governor Alex Otti to make Abia state the envy of not just the south east, but the country at large.
“We want to write our own history in the sands of time; we need the cooperation of everyone; we can make this happen” Justice charged.
This year’s World Tourism Day celebration which would be marked on September 27th, is themed: Tourism and Green Investments.
According to the SSA to the governor on Tourism and Entertainment, there will be no fun fare in the state this year, rather the state government will continue its work towards changing the narrative of tourism day celebration in the state by building infrastructures and developing tourism sites to make subsequent celebrations remarkable.
