The Federal Government has revealed plans to pay the sum of N75,000 per semester to undergraduates studying Education courses in Public institutions of learning and N50,000 to those enrolled into the National Certificate in Education (NCE), Programme.
The honourable Minister for Education, Adamu Adamu, made this known on Tuesday, October 5, in Abuja, during the 2021 World Teachers Day Celebration.
However, the minister stated that beneficiaries must attend public schools only and must sign an agreement to serve their respective states for 5 years on graduating.
Beneficiaries of the programme, will also be awarded a sponsorship to at least one refresher training per annum.
According to Adamu, this programme is part of the FG’s initiative to improve further, the educational sector of the country. He noted that funds for the initiative would be sourced from the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) and will be managed by the Federal Scholarship Board.
Other plans of the FG according to the minister include establishment of polytechnics and colleges of Education in states where they are non existing.
States for federal polytechnics are; Bauchi, Katsina, Borno, Plateau, Benue, Cross River, Oyo, Enugu, and Delta.
States for Colleges of Education; Osun, Edo, Sokoto, Benue, Bauchi and Ebonyi which will all be constructed in phases.
Recall that during the 2020 Teachers day celebration, the FG promised an automatic employment for education graduates in the country.
