The serene community of Onuaku Uturu in Isuikwuato Local Government Area, Abia State, became the center of monumental development and heartfelt tributes on Sunday, December 29, 2024, as Dr. Uche Sampson Ogah, the former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, unveiled the Wilson and Paulina Ogah Memorial Hospital in honor of his late parents, Mazi Wilson Ogah and Ezinne Pauline Ogah.

The ultramodern hospital, designed to improve healthcare delivery in the region, was commissioned by the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, during a grand celebration of life for Ezinne Pauline Ogah, who passed away at the age of 80. The event brought together dignitaries from across Nigeria, including the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, and Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi.

Speaking at the unveiling, Dr. Ogah shared that the hospital was a gesture of gratitude to God for preserving their mother in sound health throughout her life. “Our mother was a beacon of love, fairness, humility, and service. She taught us patience, hard work, and the dignity of labor,” Ogah said, recounting how their upbringing instilled resilience and resourcefulness.

During the Thanksgiving Service at the First African Gospel Mission, Ogah recalled his mother’s final moments, emphasizing the peace and worshipful spirit that characterized her transition. “She left this earth while listening to worship songs, a testament to her deep faith,” he remarked.

The event was not only a celebration of Ezinne Pauline Ogah’s impactful life but also a call for community development. Dr. Ogah urged stakeholders to invest in the region, citing the federal government’s approval for the dualization of the Okigwe-Afikpo road, facilitated by Senator David Umahi.

Governor Alex Otti, while commissioning Masters FM, a radio station also built by Dr. Ogah, lauded his commitment to expanding development in Abia State. “This hospital and other initiatives showcase the Ogah family’s dedication to improving lives in their community,” Governor Otti said.

Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru praised Ogah for uniting his large family to give their mother a befitting burial. He encouraged him to extend his industrial ventures to Ebonyi State, citing improved infrastructure as an incentive.

The Thanksgiving Service and hospital unveiling drew notable figures, including Enugu State Governor Barr. Ndubuisi Peter Mbah, former Minister of Transportation Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, among others.
