EPL: Why Iwobi Needs To Believe In Himself- Frank Lampard | READ DETAILS
Everton manager, Frank Lampard has urged Super Eagles player, Alex Iwobi, to believe in himself to flourish in the club, maintaining his faith in the star’s ability to thrive.
The newly appointed Toffees boss made this disclosure in light of the Nigerian’s exceptional performance in Everton’s victorious EPL outing aginst Leed United at Goodison Park on Saturday, the 12th of February.
Toffees Captain, Seamus Coleman opened the floor for Frank Lampard’s debut 3-1 victory for the club since his arrival.
The game served as the winger’s first EPL start for the School of Science under coach Lampard, and his eighth outing this season- his last being the December 16 clash against Chelsea.
The 25- year old since his £35m signing into the club from Arsenal in 2019 had failed to impress former coaches Marci Silva, Carlo Ancelotti and Rafael Benitez.
43-year-old Lampard stated:
“Alex (Iwobi) demanded a place in the team with his performance and he just needs to believe in himself. I certainly believe in him.
One of the beauties of coming in like this is it’s a restart for everybody.
What Alex (Iwobi) has done is that he trained at a great level.
He demanded a place in the team with his performance. He had to do a lot of work off the ball and he did everything.”
The weekend win means Everton is now five points off the relegation zone.
