EPL: Rangnick Opens Up On His Initial Thoughts About Man U | READ DETAILS
Manchester United’s interim boss, Ralf Rangnick has opened up on his initial thoughts about the side.
The German strategist was officially charged with running affairs at Old Trafford on an interim basis on the 2nd of December 2021.
The 63-year-old serves as a replacement for former Norwegian coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjær who was sacked in the Yuletide following wild calls for his termination.
Ragnick who is the leading pioneer of the Gegenpressing style of football revealed he initially thought the Premier League side was the ” worst team he has ever coached”.
Referencing the Red Devils 4-1 Manchester derby fall to counterparts, Manchester City, the gaffer admitted it almost felt like his side was at ”a funeral”.
However, Rangnick stated United’s 3-2 victory over Tottenham on Saturday has left him in high spirits as he believes they can clinch the highly coveted Champions League title.
The Gegenpressing Godfather said;
”This is what I also like about this club.
On Sunday, I almost felt like we were at a funeral, that it was already dead. I felt like it’s the worst team I ever coached.
And after the 3-2 win against Tottenham we’re discussing about our chances to win the Champions League. Ask me that question should we reach the final of the Champions League, then you can ask me that question again.”
United face Atletico on Tuesday after drawing 1-1 in Spain.
