UPDATED: Nurse to Speak on Mohbad’s De@th
Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who treated Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, a Nigerian artiste popularly known as Mohbad, before his death, will be prosecuted by Lagos State’s office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for the offence of reckless and negligent acts.
This was made known by a Magistrate Court sitting in Sabo, Yaba area of Lagos, on Tuesday.
Ejiro Kubenje, the presiding magistrate who read the DPP’s legal advice, went on to set Azeez Fashola, the artiste popularly known as Naira Marley, and Samson Balogun Eletu, a music promoter also known as Sam Larry, free of charges.
According to the court, the duo had no case to answer in the matter involving Mohbad’s death.
Opere Babatunde, Mohbad’s former manager, and Owodunni Ibrahim, also known as Primeboy were also freed by the court for lack of evidence linking them to any crime.
Kubenje noted that after careful consideration, she was of the view that a prima facie case of the offence of reckless and negligent acts, contrary to Section 251(e) of the Criminal Law, Ch C.17, Vol.3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015, had been established against Ogedengbe and one Ayobami Sadiq.
The Magistrate also agreed that while an unlawful assault had been carried out on the deceased by Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Babatunde and Primeboy in the past, it could not rise to the point of criminal responsibility at the period the artiste died.
Mohbad had also previously withdrawn his assault complaint dated October 11, 2022, against Naira Marley, on the grounds that the matter “had been settled amicably”.
The Magistrate then adjourned the case until March 24.
The singer died under mysterious circumstances on September 12, 2023. Since then, the actual cause of his death has neither been determined nor revealed.
It was reported in April that an investigation into the cause of his death had been concluded. Almost a year later, however, the report’s findings have not been made public.
