Considering the backdrop of the #EndSARS protest, Abia State Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has revealed that the successful implementation of the Enyimba Economic City will create thousands of jobs which will help reduce youths unemployment and also forestall further protest by Nigerian youths. The governor said this during a media interactive session with media practitioners in Umuahia, Abia State.
During the interaction session which AFNEWS covered, the governor stated that their are some lessons that must be taken away from the #EndSARS protest. The lessons include the need to create more jobs for the youth in a geometric format so that more youths can get jobs, which is the ideology behind the Enyimba Economic City that has the capacity to employ thousands of Abia youths.
He further stated that Igbos are more Nigerians than other Nigerians because you can find an Igbo man everywhere in Nigeria doing business. Based on that, Governor Ikpeazu called on Igbos to concentrate more on things that unite the nation, than things that divide the country.
He revealed that his administration has been implementing programmes and projects that are geared towards creating jobs for the youths, the governor sighted the revitalization of Golden Guinea Beer which has employed about 1000 persons, the shoe production factory which is undergoing test run at the moment and so many other initiative including the garment factory which is in the pipeline.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu urged the federal government and investor not to loses slight of the full implementation of the Enyimba Economic City project.
