EFCC Summons Ex-Minister, Hadi Sirika, Grills Others | READ WHY
A former minister for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has been invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for questioning.
Sirika was invited to appear before the anti-graft agency within the week on an inquiry bordering on the controversial Nigeria Air.
According to sources, the EFCC had also questioned officials of the Nigeria Air over the recent launch of the airline in Abuja.
Sources also revealed that the Commission would look at the alleged N3 billion sunk into the Nigerian Air project though some stakeholders insisted that over N80 billion was expended on the project.
“We have already questioned some officials of Nigeria Air.
“We have invited the former Aviation minister, Hadi Sirika; we are expecting him within the week” a source said.
Spokesperson of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that investigation is ongoing on the matter.
Sirika had, at the twilight of the Buhari’s administration, caused the supposed launch of the Nigeria Air in Abuja using an Ethiopian aircraft.
Stakeholders were enraged that an Ethiopian airline that landed in Nigeria with Ethiopian colours was packaged as a national carrier.
Putting up a defence, Sirika had said that the landing of the Ethiopian aircraft in Abuja, was “a marketing strategy.”
