Osun State government has refuted claims that there was a plan to assassinate the Minister of Interior and former governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
News platforms had reported that the Rasaq Salinsile faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State on Tuesday alleged the discovery of a plot to kill Aregbesola.
Abiodun Agboola, Osun APC Publicity Secretary, had said the alleged plot to have Aregbesola killed involved an ambush to be laid for his entourage as they visit the Iwo Federal Constituency on Tuesday.
He was quoted as saying, ”We say by default because the plan is to lay ambush for the minister’s entourage and deal it massive attacks on his way to visit Iwo on Tuesday,’’
But reacting, Special Adviser to Gov. Gboyega Oyetola on Political Matters, while addressing APC party members at the residence of Chief Bisi Akande, in Ila-Oragun denied the plot.
Akere said there was no truth in the claim, adding that some political hoodlums were only trying to cause crisis in the state.
“There is no truth in the claim that there are plans to assassinate Aregbesola.” NAN quoted him as saying.
