Before Gov. Ikpeazu signed the 2020 Revised Budget, Read What Abia Speaker Said

The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, says God has shown His faithfulness to Abians by sustaining and saving the Governor, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.

 

The Speaker who appreciated God for His s goodness to the Governor and people of the State, prayed the Creator to continue to protect and preserve the State’s Chief Executive as he pilots the affairs of the State.

Speaking on Thursday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Umuahia, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji who led Members of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly to meet with the Governor thanked the Almighty God for making the Governor survive the coronavirus disease.

 

The Speaker in his address said:

 

“Members of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly deemed it very fit to come here and see you since your return.

 

“We are here to thank the Almighty God for your safe return to the State.

 

“What happened to you can happen to anybody; the Almighty God will continue to guide and protect you”, he said.

 

The Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Uchendu told the Governor that the enemies gathered but they have ended up being scattered.

 

“His Excellency, they gathered but they have scattered”, he said.

 

All the Members that accompanied the Speaker to the meeting used few minutes to release prophetic prayers on the Governor while the Member representing Ukwa East State Constituency, Hon Chief Paul Tharibo took the audience on a worship and prayer Session.

 

The Governor who used the occasion to sign the Revised 2020 Abia State of Nigeria Appropriation Bill which was passed by the House on Wednesday into Law, in his response thanked the Speaker and Members of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly for their commitment to the political and socioeconomic stability of the State.

 

“I want to thank you for the very kind words you have volunteered in my favour, especially the prayers that you have all publicly declared in my favour”, he started.

 

“I thank you for passing the 2020 Revised Budget; I thank you for deeming it fit to inform of plans to embark on your well deserved recess”, he enthused.

 

On why the state came out with a Supplementary Budget, the Governor said the coronavirus pandemic which shook the global economy affected oil prices.

 

“The time we proposed the first budget, oil was sold at 60USD per barrel but now, oil is now sold for 20USD per barrel.

 

“This affliction shall not rise again”, the Governor declared.
