The Bauchi state house of assembly had adopted a motion calling on the executive arm of government to immortalize late Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa by declaring fifteen January as public holiday for his remembrance.
This followed a motion move by the member representing Kirfi Constituency in the State House of Assembly Abdulkadir Umar Dewu during plenary presided over by the speaker Abubakar Y. Suleiman.
Presenting the motion,Hon. Abdulkadir Dewu said the move became necessary due to his records of selfless service to the country and therefore deserved to be recognised and immortalised.
The lawmaker remarked that, among his life contributions,Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was very instrumental in the formation of the organization of african unity and creating a cooperative relationship with French Speaking African countries.
The correspondent of Bauchi State House of Assembly Jibrin Hussaini Kundum reports that, the motion was seconded by member representing Pali constituency,Hon. Yusuf Muhammad Bako and Hon. Danlami Ahmed Kawule member representing Zungur/Galambi and miri Constituency.
Similarly,the state house of assembly has adopted a motion calling on the state government to revive the grounded facilities in the various skills acquisition centres across the twenty 20 local government areas of the state to reduce the rate of criminal acts in the society and thereby make them self reliant.
The motion was sponsored by member representing Disina constituency,Hon Sale Hodi Jibir during the plenary held on 26/02/2020.
