Bandits Burns 90-Year-Old Man Sleeping In Gombe | READ MORE

A 90-year- old man sleeping in his hut was unfortunately burnt to death when bandits attacked Pobawure and Amtawalam villages in Biliri local government area of Gombe state on Thursday.

Confirming the incident which happened at about 2am to newsmen, the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Oqua Etim, said two other persons were also macheted to death, while three others were injured.

“We have three casualties: a 90 year old man was burnt in his hut while two other younger persons were savagely matcheted and killed. We also have three injured persons,” Etim disclosed.

Meanwhile, Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has visited the residents to sympathize with them on the sad incident.

Addressing the people the governor said;

“Security of lives and property of the citizenry always tops our government’s priorities. Government is established to serve two purposes: protection of lives and properties of the people and bringing about development. This is what our government stands for”.

“In addition, we are also looking at possibility of establishing a mobile police base to increase the presence of security operatives in the region”.

“What is happening today in North West where cattle rustling, banditry and kidnappings become rampant will not be allowed in Gombe State. People should be vigilant of new faces in their neighborhood and report any suspicious persons or movement to relevant authorities.”

The governor also gave approval for relief materials to be distributed to the affected communities.
