The Abia State panel of Inquiry on Police Brutality today, March, 10, ordered the arrest of one Mrs Ejike who refused the panel’s invitation.
Mrs Ejike is allegedly, key witness in the case between Juliet Omenihu for Ezenwoke Omenihu (missing), and the DPO, Azuka police station.
The panel in its last sitting on the matter, issued a subpoena , inviting mrs Ejike , who allegedly, was arrested with one Ezenwoke Omenihu and was released while Ezenwoke is still missing.
Recall that AF-NEWS reported that one Juliet Omenihu petitioned the panel of Inquiry, claiming that her brother , Ezenwoke Omenihu, a keke rider was carried by the policemen alongside their neighbor, Mrs Ejike who was arrested after her husband jumped out through the window, on sighting the police.
The petitioner’s family said all efforts made to know Ezenwoke’s whereabout, proved abortive.
According to them, Mrs Ejike came back from the police station, confirmed that Ezenwoke was taken to the male cell in Azuka police station.
They told the panel that they had gone to Azuka police station, seen the missing Ezenwoke’s Tricycle, but the Policemen at the station maintained they had no Ezenwoke in their custody.
The PW3 in the matter, Nwankwo Prince told the panel today, that he had gone to Azuka police station, met the DPO, who followed him to the counter where it was confirmed that Ezenwoke was brought to the cell but was taken away by the Policemen who brought him in.
According to him , on arrival of the squad, the DPO asked him to meet them and inquire about his nephew.
” When I met them they threatened to shoot me if I don’t leave, so I left.
“As at two Sundays ago, Ezenwoke’s Keke was still at Azuka Police station” Nwankwo told the panel.
The matter was adjourned till March 24, for further hearing.
