Help them — Arsenal legend Ian Wright tells Lookman what to do amid stand-off with Atalanta
Former Arsenal record scorer Ian Wright weighs in on Ademola Lookman’s transfer saga.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has expressed a desire to see Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman at the Emirates, amid his transfer standoff with Atalanta.
The 27-year-old is pushing for a move away from Bergamo to Inter Milan and has sent in a formal transfer request. La Dea are refusing to budge, however, as they do not want to give the Nigerian to their rivals at a discount. Wright suggests an interesting solution.
What Ian Wright said about Lookman
Lookman has had two previous stints in the Premier League with Fulham and Everton. He had not reached his heights as a footballer at the time and hence, failed to make his mark.
Lookman is one of the best footballers in the world nowadays, finishing 14th in the Ballon d’Or last year. Hence, Wright wants the Nigerian to return to England, in his newfound prominence, to a club like Arsenal and dominate the league.
“I would love someone like him to come back to the Premier League and say, ‘Listen, I have unfinished business here so I am going to help Arsenal win the league,’ Wright said, per Mirror.
“But I just admire his journey and now he’s recognised rightly as a top player – unbelievable.”
Meanwhile, Lookman is currently on strike, as he failed to show up for training yesterday in a bid for force Atalanta’s hand. Inter are currently the only club vying for him, as he rejected Napoli’s approach. Atletico Madrid also wanted him, but they need to make a sale to afford the transfer.
