BREAKING: Drama As NFF Appoints Controversial Head Coach
The appointment of controversial former player, Salisu Yusuf as Head Coach of Nigeria’s second top flight team, Super Eagles B, popularly known as the U23 (Olympics) team has left drama.
The infamous 60-year-old who served as an Assistant Coach of the Super Eagles was banned following his involvement in gross bribery.
In August 2018, the sportsman was caught on camera accepting cash from men disguised as football agents to select two players for the Morocco 2018 African Nations Championship squad.
A one-year-ban and a fine of $5,000 from the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF in line with the body’s ethics Fair Play Committee ruling followed suit.
After a-three-year- hiatus, a reinstated Salisu is billed to return as the Head Coach of Super Eagles B team.
In a statement released by on Thursday, 14th April 2022 by the NFF’s spokesperson, Ademola Olajire, titled, ‘’NFF appoints Salisu, Bosso, Ugbade, Bassey to head male National Teams’’, the body stated that “a new Head Coach for the Super Eagles will be announced and officially unveiled once the processes for his engagement and contract-signing are concluded”.
