The Abiriba community, known for its rich cultural heritage, operates a unique age grade system that dates back to the community’s early days. Originally, the age grade system was used to protect the community, but it has since evolved into a mechanism for community development. Each age grade group operates for a set period before retiring (Ime Uche) to allow the next age grade to take over community duties.

Chief Nwaka Inem “Enyioha,” a prominent member of the Okezie Age Grade, will officially retire along with his peers in a ceremony set to be one of the most memorable events in Abiriba, affectionately known as Small London. The event is scheduled for Saturday, December 28th, 2024, and is expected to attract a large gathering of well-wishers and dignitaries.

An invitation extended to ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER indicates that the retirement ceremony of Chief Nwaka Inem will be grand. Chief Inem has also extended his invitation to all friends, family, and well-wishers to join in the celebration.

The retirement ceremony will not only mark the end of an era for Chief Nwaka Inem and his age grade but will also highlight the enduring importance of traditional practices in fostering community spirit and development. The event will include cultural performances, traditional rites, and festivities that reflect the vibrant culture of Abiriba.

As the date approaches, more details about the event will be shared. The community looks forward to celebrating Chief Nwaka Inem “Enyioha” and honoring his contributions to the development of Abiriba.
