Aisha Buhari To Host Presidential Aspirants For Ramadan Iftar Dinner, Restricts Phones
The First Lady of the federation, Aisha Buhari has revealed she will host all Presidential aspirants across various political parties at a Ramadan Iftar dinner at the State House, placing restriction of the use of phones.
With the Islam holy month of fasting, Ramadan still ongoing, the 51-year-old cosmetologist cum beauty therapist who is in the country after a long hiatus in Dubai has stated Presidential aspirants who will join the dinner are to come without phones.
Presidential hopefuls Tinubu, Osinbajo, Atiku, Obi, Saraki, Wike and other bigwigs will dine with the nation’s leading lady on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the State House Conference Centre.
According to the spokesperson of the First Lady, Aliyu Abdullahi, who confirmed the dinner to Punch the aspirants have been instructed not to come along with their mobile devices, except for their invitation cards which would serve as their entry pass.
Stating a clause in the directive, Aliyu Abdullahi added Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and ministers who are expected to be at the dinner will not be subjected to the no phone rule.
“There is nothing here. This is a standard operational protocol in the Villa when you are having a meeting with either of the three occupants of the Presidency,”
“If they are coming for an event, this is supposed to be DSS enforced when the president is having an event or the Vice President is having an event or the first lady is having an event. Because outsiders will come. That’s the security and standard protocol. That does not apply to the Vice President. How can you expect that to apply to the Vice President or even to ministers?”
