Chief Raymond Onyinyechi Ofoegbu (Onyinye Ohuhu), a deputy superintendent of Immigration has received the Abia Icon of the year 2021 award conferred on him by ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER (AF-NEWS).
Recall that the 4th edition of the AF-NEWS Award event held on December 9, 2021, at Dangrete Hotel Umuahia, Abia state.
Receiving the award on January, 4, 2021 in his country home in Ofeme Ohuhu in Umuahia North LGA of the state, the Icon and philanthropist, obviously elated, expressed gratitude to ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER for the award.
Ofoegbu said, the conferment of the award is one of the best things that has ever happened to him as it gave him the opportunity to meet dignitaries including a former governor of the state.
“I was already on my way out of the country when that news came and I’ll tell you for free, it’s one of the best things that has happened in my life because some individuals see the families of our former governors as their abode.
ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER gave me the opportunity of clicking with his Excellency, Senator T.A. Orji’s family. I need no advertisement, but having made us to be together in a circle, that singled me out and it’s a plus to me I live to appreciate that.”
Speaking on the Onyinye Ohuhu Foundation, Ofoegbu said it was out of passion to give back to the society and impact on the life of especially the poor as he also came from a poor background.
Asked if his numerous outreaches were politically motivated; Chief Ofoegbu adduced;
“Sincerely, I had no Intention abinitio but currently there is motivation, there is agitation from the youths side. They need positive representation in our local constituency here. I am not going to say the people that have been there have done it wrongly, they have done their best. I think we deserve better. So, the youths are clamoring for us to go represent then in the state house of assembly. The women are also clamoring for the same thing. I think am a selfless person, I have to sacrifice everything I have in the state to come answer that call”
On how he plans to implement the numerous projects he has in mind for the people if elected in the legislature;
“There is something called constituency allowance. As a legislator, you have so many allowances that if you chose to sacrifice for your people, you can achieve a lot. Why packing all those millions, you saved when you are going to die tomorrow? Get it into the people that need it today and wait for the death because it must surely come.
I am about to sacrifice whatever that is involved. Allowances, personal salaries, which I have been doing with my personal Money. That money belongs to the people. It has no individual involvement, You are just a messenger so getting it back to the people is the easiest thing I can do”.
Some of the outreach programed embarked by Onyinye Ohuhu for the yuletide include;
7 days Free medical outreach for the aged, tournament for the youths, student empowerment projects which includes distribution of laptops, wrappers for women, foundation laying for a mini stadium, etc.
