The immediate past Commissioner for Information in the State Chief John Okiyi Kalu and a former member of the Abia State House of Assembly Hon. P.C Onyegbu are some of the people that top the list of those that have been sworn in as Commissioner and Council Chairmen respectively by the State Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.
Speaking during the occasion at the Michael Okpara Auditorium Umuahia, the State Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu thanked God for the caliber of people that have been selected to serve as Council Chairmen and Deputies in their various L.G.A’s and congratulated them for making the list of those that have being sworn in to serve.
He noted that the demands of service to the people requires commitment and total determination, pointing out that they must ensure they carry every one along in the course of their duties so as to work as a team for the overall development their council areas.
Dr. Ikpeazu further advised some of the newly sworn in Chairmen and their Deputies who had served their Local Government Areas previously on the need to do things differently this time around, in a bid to correcting some of the things they were unable to do in their previous position.
He charged them to always partner with the various stakeholders in their council areas to work in a harmonious relationship with the people, and used the occasion to remind them of his zero tolerance to corruption, pointing out that they must not be found wanting in their duties.
In their acceptance speeches, the newly sworn in Commissioner for Information Chief John Okiyi Kalu and Hon. P.C. Onyegbu who spoke on behalf of the Chairmen and their deputies thanked the Governor for finding them worthy to serve in their Council areas and promised never to disappoint their people in their positions.
Apart from Chief Kalu who was reappointed as Commissioner for Information, some of the names of the Chairmen are as follows: Barr. Charles Esonu Aba North, Dr. N.C.N.C Okoli Aba South, Chief Dan Kalu Arochukwu as well as Hon. P.C. Onyegbu Bende. The rest are Amstrong Okoronkwo Ikwuano, Ike Anyatonwu Isialangwa North, Dan Orjinta Isialangwa South, and Chima Agbaeze Isuikwuato among others.
Earlier, the State Solicitor General/Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Enyinnaya Okezie had administered the oath of allegiance as well as oath of office to the newly sworn officials.
