One Dr. Abazie Ekeledo has alleged that a police man attempted to Machete him in his hospital.

This he made known to a judicial panel on Wednesday January 27, 2021  led by Justice SN Imo in Abia State.

According to Dr. Ekeledo, the police arrested and detained him without investigations on the invite of one Mr Nnamdi Ahuchaogu who he claimed had a land issue with him.

The respondent’s counsel, Augustine Udo stated that the petitioner was arrested after the police received a petition against him from someone, claiming that the doctor performs illegal abortions in his hospital.

Responding, the petitioner said he never saw such petition neither was the members of NMA who came to the station receive such .

Dr. Ekeledo said the policemen of Zone 9 Umuahia locked him up in the cell with accused criminal persons .

He said the police tagged him an unqualified doctor, an abortionist and a trafficker. He said they didn’t explain what they meant by trafficking nor abortion because abortion is a “whole text book” .

According to him, the police men came  and searched his hospital but didn’t find anything.

He also stated that a police man tried to Machete him with a Matchete he picked from the hospital and also snatched his phone  when he was trying to make a phone call.

The petitioner pleaded a damage fee of N100M.

The respondent’s counsel made a no – case submission.

He said ” I will file for a no- case submission and I will rely on it because there is no case here. He is talking about attempted brutality which is not brutality”.

The case was adjourned to March 10 , 2021 for address.
