The Labour Party Senatorial candidate for Abia North, Chief Nnamdi Iro Orji (Opotoyom) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that it immediately concludes the aborted Senatorial election in the zone so as to declare a true winner of the election and reduce the tension building up in the zone as a result of the aborted election.
Speaking to the press after presenting a petition addressed to the State Resident Electoral Commission, Chief Iro Orji wondered why the INEC official that executed the hatched job for his opponent and disappeared would do so after the Commission had declared the election inconclusive and listed dozens of polling units in Ohafia and Abiriba where election would be done in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines.
Chief Iro Orji recalled that INEC had emphatically declared the election inconclusive and listed Isiama and Okanu Wards in Ohafia and several polling units in Abiriba as areas where election would be conducted, only for an INEC official to connive with his opponent and declared the winner illegally, thus disenfranchising the over 40,000 (Fourty Thousand Eligible Voters in the aforementioned areas which is fifteen times higher than the 2,500 votes with which the APC candidate is leading.
Finally, the LP candidate called on INEC to quickly conclude the exercise by conducting fresh election in those areas where election had not held so as to save the image of the Commission which is now at stake, insisting that both his opponent who wants to win through the back door and the official who wants to return him illegally have all failed as the election must be concluded.
