Abia State Governor’s Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Martins Okey Justice E., popularly known by his stage name J. Martins, has paid a heartfelt condolence visit to the family of the late renowned evangelist, Rev. (Dr.) Uma Ukpai, at their Uyo residence, Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking during the visit, J. Martins, who hails from Ohafia in Abia State—the same hometown as the late evangelist—described the visit not as a moment of sorrow, but one of gratitude to God for the impactful life Papa Uma lived.
According to him, “The house of Papa Uma is my home. We did not come here to cry; we came to thank God for a true Christian who lived a fulfilled life and touched countless souls. Even Mama, his wife, is my mother too.”
He explained that the late evangelist’s exemplary life and unwavering faith continue to serve as a beacon of light to millions, both within and beyond Abia.
Martins further disclosed that the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, will visit the family at the appropriate time to personally pay his respects, adding that the people of Ohafia are fully committed to giving their illustrious son, Evangelist Uma Ukpai, all the honour and respect he deserves.
“As Ohafia people, we will ensure Papa Uma is celebrated as he should be. He remains a pride to our community and to the Christian faith,” he said.
The Abia-born musician and government aide also expressed gratitude to the family for receiving him warmly, noting that the late evangelist’s life remains a testimony of love, service, and dedication to the gospel.
