A former Chairman, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State and current All Progressive Congress [APC] Abia North zonal Chairman, Hon. Chief Chris Ajah, has embarked on a self sponsored palliative work on some sections of the collapsed road in Acha Community.
The APC chieftain resolved to carry out the palliative work on the collapsed road, which has lingered for years without attention from both the Federal and State governments.
On site visit, ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER gathered that the bad has caused damages to the daily livelihood of residents in that area.
The Acha weekly market have been closed as the road from Ovim to Acha community is currently inaccessible. People can not buy and sell in the market owing to the bad statue of the road, which is also the easiest route to get to Ebonyi State from Isuikwuato.
Even in its failed state, heavy duty trucks still ply the route as it serves as a short cut. The presence of trucks has however, caused more damages on the road.
Out of the benevolence of Chief Ajah, he has decided to commence construction of two culverts, fill up the bad spots and also grade the road. As at Sunday, October 3, 2021, work was in progress on the road.
The Culverts will serve as cross-drains to relieve drainage of ditches at the roadside, and to pass water under the road.
Ajah noted that the state governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, had during a visit, promised to reconstruct the road which up till now has not been fulfilled. He called on the Federal and State governments to please help fix the road.
Speaking to our correspondent, the youth president of Acha community, explained how the road has suffered the people.
According to him, the youth had done some palliative work to alleviate the pain but not much could be achieved. He appreciated the APC Chieftain for tasking himself to do some reconstruction, assuring that the youths will not forget his kind gesture.
