Popular philanthropist, lawyer and medical practitioner, Dr. Okwun Ojah has released his second novel titled ‘The Bloodless War of The Mind’
The book is set to be launched in Nigeria towards the end of the year when, hopefully, the COVID-19 issues would be less intense or totally over. It is currently available online at inhousebookstore.com.au
‘The Bloodless War of The Mind’ is a medical thriller that explores the theme of gene manipulation which has been a trending topical issue in modern medical practice in recent times. It tells the gripping story of Sammy and his wife, Abigail who, ‘with deep concern and desire to get rid of epilepsy which killed Sammy’s father, set out to arrange for gene manipulation so that their unborn child would not have any trace of epilepsy in his system. The baby boy thus arrived as a product of gene manipulation and, to the delight of his parents, showed no signs of seizure from birth until he was twelve months old. Then the ugly twist hit them like a thunderbolt when, at exactly twelve months, the boy had a massive seizure that triggered a long, epic battle for his parents to rescue his life.
The plot is a compelling tapestry of creative excellence exploring the frontiers of modern medicine, challenging the limitations of man’s scientific quest and throwing up ethical dilemmas associated with man’s attempts to manipulate nature for his comfort, sometimes to a criminal extent.
In a chat with AFNEWS, Dr. Okwun Ojah, whose first novel, ‘It Never Rained, It Poured’ made waves in literary circles when it was released a few years ago, informed that his new novel is a two-part odyssey and with the massive interest being generated by the book since its release few weeks ago, its second part is already in the works.
A proud son of Ohafia, Abia State, Nigeria, Dr. Ojah migrated from Nigeria after obtaining his primary medical degree (MBBCH) some years back, and went to Botswana and South Africa before settling down in Australia where he currently resides. In his words, “It was my childhood ambition to accomplish three major things in my life: become a practicing medical doctor, a lawyer and a novelist. I am grateful to God for His grace that enabled me to beat the odds and accomplish all three. I have also obtained three more medical degrees, two forensic degrees and three law degrees from top Australian universities. I run a successful medical practice, I have other companies and I intend to continue writing even in retirement. Luckily, my family has been very supportive and I am immensely grateful to them”.
Well known for his selfless and mind-blowing philanthropic deeds with no political intent whatsoever, Dr. Okwun Ojah has built a two-storey civic hall for his community, Amaekpu Ohafia, and equipped one of the halls with computers for students; awarded scholarships, provided transformers for power generation, embarked on road construction and most recently provided relief materials for his people to help mitigate the adverse economic effects of COVID-19.
He has been honoured with the prestigious title of Onwa Ohafia Ancient Kingdom, unanimously conferred on him by all the traditional rulers in Ohafia Local Government Area, and he is a two-time recipient of the Abia Facts Newspaper Awards in 2017 and 2018.
His new novel, ‘The Bloodless War of The Mind’ is best described as a magnum opus and a must read, especially for those seeking to gain new insights regarding the subject of its thematic focus. The book is highly recommended for everyone.
