The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), IGNES International, Ifeanyi Elvis Ogbonna, has celebrated the 2021 New Yam Festival (Ikeji Aro) of Arochukwu kingdom in Abia State in grand style.
Ogbonna is a realtor, President of IGNES Ogbonna Foundation, and has an Android phone brand (Ignes X 6 pro, 5 pro, etc).
The Ikeji Aro festival which is celebrated in the month of September, marks the end of the farming season, arrival of harvest, and beginning of a new season.
The Ikeji Calendar is determined by the Arochukwu traditional council (OKPANKPO Aro) under the leadership of his Majesty the Eze Aro.
The festival presents an opportunity to celebrate Arochukwu tradition and culture in its pure and original form. It is also a platform for infinite entertainment, tourism and reunion with cultural delegations from affiliate Aro settlements spread all over Igbo land and beyond.
Speaking to newsmen at the Ikeji Aro festival, Ogbonna stated that the festival has been for decades which was transferred to the new generations by the fore fathers of Aro.
He expressed excitement for the provisions made by the Ikeji Aro where sons of Aro can come back home and participate in cultural activities.
Still in the spirit of the new yam festival, Ogbonna visited widows of Atani, Amannagwu and Ujari communities where he empowered them with wrappers, cash gifts, phones and other materials in celebration of Ikeji Aro.
Others who benefited from the empowerment are youths of different villages.
