A Port Harcourt-based lawyer, Emmanuel Ikechi Emelogu has been allegedly kidnapped in Port Harcourt Rivers State.
The lawyer who hails from Itungwa, in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State has spent seventeen days in kidnappers’ den, with no trace of his whereabouts.
A member of Nigerian Bar Association, Port Harcourt branch, sources said Emelogu was kidnapped along Unity Estate, Eneka Town a Port Harcourt, Rivers on his way home on Sunday,August 4,2019.
Sadly, his abductors have ceased all communication with the family even after receiving undisclosed ransom running into millions of Naira from his family, few days back.
Police are said to have intensified efforts to ensure the release of the father of four to his family obviously traumatized by his abduction.
Meanwhile, the family, kinsmen and associates of the kidnap victim have been appealing to his abductors to release him. Speaking with Abia Gazette, National President of Itungwa Peoples Assembly, Mr Emeka Awudu condemned the abduction of the city lawyer, while appealing to his kidnappers to release him unconditionally.
Also reacting to Barrister Emelogu’s abduction, the traditional ruler of Itu Ahiafor Ukwu Autonomous Community (in Obingwa) HRM Eze A A Oji called on security agencies to fish out the abductors of the young and vibrant lawyer. Eze Oji,a retired Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) prayed God to touch the heart of those keeping him hostage.
The Police is yet to make any official statement on the progress of investigation, though reliable sources confirmed there has been intelligence gathering to track the heartless criminals behind the lawyer’s abduction.
In his 40s, Emmanuel Emelogu,Esq. is a product of University of Lagos, a devouted Christian of Church of Nigeria, Angiican Communion.
