It was an epoch-making event yesterday at Umuasua, Isuikwuato L.G.A of Abia State as an Abia-born philanthropist and the President/Founder of Lucky Johnson Cares Organization, Sir Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson supported the educational pursuit of 100 indigent students from the 20 wards in Isuikwuato Local Government Area.
The event was indeed a laudable one as it saw the increase in the number of beneficiaries from 20 students in previous years to the emergence of 100 students for the year 2020 Lucky Johnson Educational Empowerment, which has become an annual ritual for the good people of Isuikwuato.
Speaking during the empowerment programme, the donor and lover of education, Sir Lucky Johnson reminded all, that the empowerment program is not politically motivated as it has always been part of him and urged the students to make judicious use of the funds while announcing the absence of examination for the selection of 100 beneficiaries for the year 2020.
Recall that Sir Lucky John contested in the 2020 local government elections in Isuikwuato L.G.A. under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), but could not make it. However, this could not stop these annual rituals but rather increased the number of beneficiaries as well as brought in other philanthropic packages. Reacting to this, the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji (MNSE), represented by the Lawmaker representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. (Barr.) Jerry Uzosike urged all to emulate from this philanthropist, who have not benefited anything from the government and did not mourn his failure in the last election as well as the issue of the COVID-19 saga but continued in his philanthropic gestures to his people.
Also speaking during the program, the Methodist Bishop of Isuikwuato Dioceses, The Rt. Rev. G.U. Kanu and the Member representing Isiala-Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Darlington Nwokocha lauded Sir Lucky Johnson for his great achievement and love for his people, urging the students to make judicious use of the educational support funds given to them as well as to strive to be like the donor in becoming successful and gifting to their society in future times.
Speaking to AFNEWS crew one of the 100 beneficiaries of the Sir Lucky Johnson Education Empowerment programme for the year 2020, Mr Echendu Munachimso Kelechi, who is an undergraduate of the University of Uyo and from Isuikwuato Ward I, expressed surprised and esteemed joy for making it to the list for the year and thanked the donor while praying God to protect and guide him in all his endeavours.
The empowerment program, which attracted top politicians in the State, including the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji (MNSE), represented by the Lawmaker representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. (Barr.) Jerry Uzosike, the Member representing the Isiala-Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Darlington Nwokocha, former Commissioners in the State, other PDP chieftains in the state and local government, members of the Ikuku Oma Apostles and Sir Lucky Johnson Cares Foundation, the clergy, men of the press and lovers of the Lucky Johnson Cares Organization, saw the 100 students smiling home with their education-support packages as well as other cash support from the Rep. member and transport stipends for all the students present during the selection and empowerment processes.
The highlight of the events include homily by the Bishop of the Methodist Diocese of Isuikwuato, Speeches by dignitaries present, dance and gifting of all the 20 Ward Heads of the Lucky Johnson Cares Organization with bags of rice and cash donations.
