The Labour Party Leader in Bende, Chief Ifeanyi Frank Chinasa, has lauded the significant infrastructural projects underway in Aba, spearheaded by Governor Alex Otti’s administration. The ongoing transformation of Aba, the commercial heartbeat of the South East, aims to restore its former glory as an industrial hub.
Speaking at the inaugural edition of the Aba Worldwide Reunion, which took place over the weekend in Dallas, Texas, Chief Chinasa expressed pride in the development strides being made in Aba. He urged the Diaspora community—comprising Abians living in the USA, UK, Europe, and China—to actively support and partner with the government in realizing the vision of turning Aba into a modern megacity.
Addressing a large audience of proud Abians, Chief Chinasa reminisced about the uniqueness of Aba, recalling the city’s rich cultural and industrial heritage. In a nostalgic speech filled with humor, he brought smiles to the faces of attendees as he referenced iconic Aba phrases and slangs. His memories of Aba’s vibrant past were interwoven with a passionate plea for the Diaspora to invest in the future of Enyimba City.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to reviving Aba, Chief Chinasa emphasized the need for collective efforts. He noted that the city’s current pace of development offers a perfect opportunity for those abroad to return home and contribute their expertise, resources, and innovative ideas toward its transformation into a modern metropolis. According to him, Aba was once famed as the “Japan of Africa,” and this renaissance aims to surpass its former standing on the global stage.
The Aba Worldwide Reunion, which brought together former residents now living across the globe, was not only a platform for socializing but also for strategizing and networking. Participants discussed various avenues for advancing Aba’s infrastructural, economic, and social development, ensuring that the city’s future is bright and prosperous.
