Stakeholders in Aba North and Aba South APC have been enjoined to remain united as the 2023 general elections draw near.
This charge was made by an APC stalwart and a former Abia House of Assembly member, Hon. Dr Dame Blessing Nwagba.
Hon. Dr Nwagba said her decision to join the party, the APC, was borne out of the desire to see the party grow and bring dividends to the people of Aba North and South and Abia in general.
She said despite the challenges faced by the party, it was important for aggrieved members to sheath their swords for the interest of the party, while promising that everyone would be carried along.
The one-time Abia Governorship candidate under the Social Democratic Party in the last general elections said members must align with the party as further delay would do them no good in the 2023 elections.
She encouraged members who have interest in running for any elective office to do so without holding back as she was certain the party would win various seats at the state and National Assemblies as well as Abia gubernatorial seat come 2023.
The APC stalwart who was a member of the Pre – Convention Planning Committee said except for the issues of insecurity bedeviling the nation, the party had achieved so much in terms of infrastructure and manpower development.
In his response, Elder Uba Omeinazu said it was important for members to build a strong party, stating that over the years, it was difficult to convene a meeting of stakeholders of such magnitude but said members were lucky that the mantle of leadership has fallen on Hon Dr Nwagba.
In their separate responses, a leader of the party in Aba South, Dr CC Nwogu thanked Dr Nwagba for her leadership. He expressed joy that Dr Nwagba has presented herself as a rallying point for the party in Aba North and South while Ujoh Justice, a leader in Aba North extolled the mentorship of Dr Blessing Nwagba, thanking her for her peaceful disposition in trying to unite the party in the two local government areas of Aba North and South.
He charged the leaders of the party to look into the issues that have divided the party in the past to ensure that everyone is carried along going forward.
