Another Abia North Group known as Abia North Voice Organization (ANVO) have called on the Senate President, Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan to immediately declare the seat of the imprisoned Senator Orji Uzor kalu vacant.
The group which issued a press release immediately after their emergency meeting in Abuja, are angered by the fact that Abia North has no voice in the senate and that at the moment all the benefits that should come to Abia North have seized.
The group which is headed by one Chief Kalu Elekwachi who hails from Igbere community in Bende LGA, revealed that the way forward for Abia North is for the seat of the imprisoned senator to be declared vacant.
Chief Kalu want forward to explain that he is not a PDP member, either is he of APC, but his concern and that of the group is for Abia North not to become abandoned because someone was imprisoned for his offence against the state.
“Abia North needs to move forward, Ojri Kalu who happens to be from my community has contributed his quota and as a group we appreciate that, but the senatorial zone should not be tied down because of him, we need to move forward”
“The group does not have anything against the imprisoned senator, in fact we are praying he is released soonest. We love him as a person, but Abia North is at stake now, lets the zone move forward”
“Since his imprisonment, the zone is flat in terms of projects, nobody is speaking for us at the senate. The zone is bigger than one person, that is why we are calling for seat to be declared vacant” he stated.
Remember that based on the rules of the senate, a senator’s seat will be declared vacant if he is absent for 90 days.
