Commissioner for Special Duties, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, has tasked Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) to comply and maintain quality assurance in its service delivery to the Four-Point by Sheraton Hotel, Ikot Ekpene, saying power has become a major concern of the state government.

Rt. Hon. Etteh made this known on Sunday when he visited the Ikot Ekpene PHEDC Power Sub-Station to ascertain the state of the 11KVA Feeder Panel installed to service the hotel.

The Special Duties Commissioner, who expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of work done, urged PHEDC to live up to its responsibility, maintaining that Akwa Ibom State Government has been a reliable partner and a good client to the company and deserves the best.

While urging the management of PHEDC not to cut-coners in its contract with the Akwa Ibom State Government, he appealed that a dedicated, steady and reliable power source be linked to to the facility to enable Marriott’s Group commence it’s operation.

The Special Duties Commissioner also appealed to PHEDC to ensure the hotel is powered immediately on Monday and promised to visit the substation again on Tuesday to confirm compliance.

Responding, the PHEDC Head of Integrated Business Centre, Engr.Akanimo Ekpe Josiah, expressed regret over their non compliance to the contract terms on timely delivery which has delayed the commencement of operation by Marriott’s Group.

Engr. Josiah further promised to meet the deadline and added that the management will comply with acceptable standard in its delivery.

The Commissioner, who was shown round the power sub-station by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Power, Engr. Meyene Etukudoh, was accompanied on the visit by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Special Duties, Engr. Richard Ekpe, the consultant to the project, Engr. Imoh and Heads of Ministry of Special Duties Directorates.
