NGO TRAINS 250 ISUIKWUATO YOUTHS ON ICT, DONATES EQUIPMENT’S WORTH MILLIONS TO COMMUNITY

After a yearlong Computer/Solar System Installation Training organized by a non-governmental organization by name Divine Grace Positive Empowerment Initiative in partnership with Positive Life Global Empowerment (PLGE e.V) Germany, it has come to an end with 250 graduates emerging and the entire equipment donated to one of the benefiting community during the closing event that held on June 14, 2019.

The just concluded training was aimed at building a sustainable change in educational development using technology as pivot for advancement in education and empowerment of the rural people. The computer training program emanated as a result of needs assessment done with the youths in the locality.

During the assessment, it was discovered that the program will provide skills to help them begin successful careers. In addition, it will reorient their mindset from illegal or unproductive migration and will begin to make contributions to social progress by becoming an asset to the growing economy.

The Organizers added that the training will help build up skills for their future life, help their academic growth and increase opportunity for communication as well as increase self-esteem and self-confidence.

Based on what Abia Facts News gathered, out of 7 communities that were listed to participate in the training, 4 communities participated, while 3 complained of road inaccessibility. The four communities that participated includes; Amiyi-Uhu community, Amiyi-Obinohia community, Umunneka Agbo community and Mgbelu Umunnekwu community with the total of 250 students.

During an interaction with the project director and President of Divine Grace Positive Empowerment Initiative, Mrs. Chika Ugoagha, she gave credit to CIM/GIZ, ASB, NUE as sponsors of the project and also appreciated Umunnekwu Agbo community for receiving the project and also for creating an enabling environment for the successful implementation of the training project.

Mrs. Chika also went ahead to appreciate the DG, Abia State Ministry of Education, Adult and Mass Literacy and Secretary Education board Isuikwuato LGA both for sending representatives.

The project director revealed that their first success story was that one of the students who participated in the training secured a job with Abia State University with the competence he acquired during the training.

She charged the community to protect the equipment’s and likewise set up structure that will enable the training continue to impact our lives.

On a final note, Mrs. Chika revealed that the organization is putting finishing touches to her Fashion/Sewing Empowerment and Skill Acquisition Building which will commence soon.

Other people that enjoyed the training included school children, teachers and even NYSC corpers serving in the community.
