NEW CHIEF MEDICAL DIRECTOR (CMD) EMERGES FOR FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTER (FMC) UMUAHIA

The stage is set for change of guard at the Federal Medical Center Umuahia, Abia State, following the emergence of a new helmsman to head the institution. The emergence and appointment of the new Chief Medical Director (CMD) is in line with the outcome of the selection process vide interview exercise conducted by the Board of Management of Federal Medical Center, Umuahia, for candidates to fill in the position.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Federal Medical Center, Umuahia, Mr. Madubuko Chikezirim Darligton, an Assistant Director, confirmed this development in an interview with Abia Facts News Reporter in his office on Wedsday, April 10, 2019. According to the PRO’s disclosure, the candidates were interviewed on February 12, 2019. The names of successful candidates based on performance ranking were forwarded to the Federal Ministry of Health Abuja for consideration in accord with administrative guidelines. Accordingly, the new Chief Medical Director (CMD) was appointed based on excellent performance in the said interview.

When asked to shed more light on the identity of the incoming Chief Executive, the PRO, declined but maintained the identity would be made known soon by the appropriate authorities, in this instance the Board of Management of FMC, Umuahia. However, Abia Facts News gathered from some other reliable and closely monitored sources the new Chief Executive/CMD is Dr. Azubuike Onyebuchi. The new Boss is a Surgeon, and is highly esteemed for his leadership abilities and qualities. Dr. Azubuike Onyebuchi is coming to the new office/position with track records of great experience and tradition of excellence in the medical profession.

Prior to his emergence and elevation as the CMD, Dr. Onyebuchi, was the Acting Chief Medical Director, Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. Meanwhile, the outgoing Chief Executive and Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Abali Chuku, it was gathered has handed over formally to an Acting Chief Medical Director, Dr. Mrs Chinwe Edith Okoli, who also doubles as the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee.

Abia Facts News Reporter observed some staff of the Hospital who were obviously elated over the appointment of the new CMD. The expressions on the faces of some of the staff implied the news of the much awaited appointment has finally come to fruition. The new CMD is expected to assume duty soon amidst great sense of anticipation by FMC, Umuahia, community.
