ABIA ELECTION DEBATE 2019: APGA’S UGBOAJA AND YPP’S CHUKWUNARU BACK OUT AS KALU AND ANYASO HOTLY DEBATE

The Abia state election Debates kicked off today with the candidates of the People’s Democratic Party, Dr Chima Anyaso and that of the All Progressives Congress Barr. Benjamin Kalu, Participating in the debate.

The Debate which started at exactly 11:30 am saw the candidates slug it out as they presented their visions and blueprints to the electorates.

According to Anyaso, his pivotal interest is In the area of the Health and Development of the people. According to him, “only a healthy person appreciates the dividends of democracy.”

On his plans, Benjamin Kalu focused on the development of the inherent agrarian capacity of the constituency and his constituents. According to Barr. Kalu, “we have to leverage on our strengths which are in the agricultural sector. He went further to highlight the individual strengths of the various communities in Bende and how he intends to improve upon the status quo.

However, the candidates of both major parties failed to hold back emotions as they went against some of the basic rules of the debate by diving into personal attacks against their persons, despite the efforts of the debate moderators to call them to order.

The other candidates in Bende Federal constituency like the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance Emma Ugbajah and that of the Young Progressives Party Charles Chukwunaru failed to attend even as invitations were duly sent to them.
