[VIDEO] Convoy Recklessness in Akwa Ibom Sparks Outrage as Victim Speaks Out, Sends an Open Letter to Gov Eno

An open letter and video released by Mmanti Umoh have triggered widespread concern following allegations of reckless driving by government convoy vehicles along Udo Udoma Road in Uyo.

The letter, addressed to Umo Eno, details a near-fatal encounter experienced by Umoh and his family. According to his account, a three-vehicle convoy allegedly linked to state officials drove dangerously through traffic, putting multiple road users at risk.

Umoh identified the lead vehicle as a white Hilux van driven by a man wearing a MOPOL shirt, whom he accused of driving recklessly and forcing vehicles off the road. He said the convoy scattered tricyclists, pedestrians, and other motorists “as if lives meant nothing.”

The convoy reportedly included a second vehicle with a covered plate number and a third bearing the registration “10A 27 AK.” The chaotic scene, which disrupted traffic along the busy Udo Udoma axis, was captured on video and shared publicly.

Recounting the incident, Umoh expressed anger and frustration, stating that the actions of the convoy nearly resulted in a fatal crash involving his family. He condemned what he described as a recurring pattern of lawlessness among official convoys.

“Government officials are supposed to save lives, not become a source of danger,” he wrote, calling on the governor to urgently rein in members of his convoy and other state officials.

Umoh further demanded accountability and immediate reforms, urging authorities to end what he termed a culture of entitlement and disregard for public safety on the roads.

As of the time of this report, the Akwa Ibom State Government has not issued an official response. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked growing reactions online, with residents and observers calling for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and greater responsibility from government convoys.

The video and letter continue to circulate widely, intensifying public demand for action to ensure the safety of road users across the state.
