Manchester United have a great chance of landing Sandro Tonali provided they’re in the Champions League next season.

Sandro Tonali will choose Manchester United as his preferred next club if they secure Champions League football for next season, reports Football FanCast.

Newcastle midfielder Tonali has become highly sought after this season. The Magpies man has been a consistent performer for his team, and amid their struggles, there’s a sense he should be playing for a better side.

There is interest from big clubs such as Arsenal and United, and while the former look on course to win the Premier League for the first time since 2003-04, it’s the latter who are best placed.

Football FanCast‘s report states that the Italian sees an opportunity to cement himself in the Red Devils’ side for years, and he would prefer a move there if they secure Champions League football for next season.

United are third in the Premier League, with a six-point gap to fifth-placed Liverpool and a seven-point buffer on Chelsea in sixth, so with just seven games left this season, they’re well placed to return to Europe.

That could give the Red Devils a perfect chance to land the successor to Casemiro, who has confirmed he’s going to depart Manchester in the summer.

Newcastle won’t be bullied

Newcastle CEO David Hopkinson has insisted that should any of their star players want to leave in the summer, they’ll do so for maximum gains, like Alexander Isak last summer.

Hopkinson said when asked about Tonali: “We haven’t got an overall strategy with regard to players out, necessarily.

“We think through what players might or might not want to do this summer. But if an Isak-like scenario presents itself again, any player under contract is going to leave on our terms and we’re going to maximise the opportunity that might represent for the club.

“Going forward, our strategy is to buy well and sell well. Buying well does not necessarily mean spending the most money. It means working in the marketplace for the players that generate the most value for this club rather than the fee paid for them.

“So there are a multitude of things we need to employ, including developing our own, looking for opportunities in the marketplace and making sure we are maximising our opportunity within the available price we can produce.”
