Nigerian icon Obafemi Martins, Troost-Ekong lead Osimhen chorus after Fenerbahce masterclass

Victor Osimhen’s impressive performance against Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in the Turkish Cup has set the football world ablaze, with his Super Eagles teammates and Nigerian football legend Obafemi Martins leading the chorus of praise for the Galatasaray striker.

Osimhen’s stunning first-half brace in the explosive Istanbul derby not only secured a semifinal spot for his club but also drew widespread admiration from his compatriots following the thrilling victory over their bitter rivals.

The 26-year-old’s heroics in the quarterfinal showdown were impossible to ignore, and Nigeria’s football fraternity wasted no time celebrating his brilliance.

Martins, a revered icon of Nigerian football, set the tone by dropping emojis of raised hands on Osimhen’s victory post on Instagram, a gesture that spoke volumes about his admiration for the young striker’s exploits.

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali was quick to join in, dubbing Osimhen a “goal machine” in recognition of his relentless scoring form.

National team captain William Troost-Ekong kept it simple yet emphatic, posting fire emojis to salute the striker’s red-hot display.

The praise didn’t stop there. Super Falcons’ goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie added a playful twist with “Goal-simhen,” while defender-midfielder Ogenyi Onazi chimed in with “goals na water,” a nod to how effortlessly Osimhen seems to find the back of the net.

Osimhen’s double strike, scored in the 10th and 27th minutes, proved to be the difference in a match that erupted into chaos after halftime, with red cards flying and tempers boiling over.

Despite the drama, his early goals stood as the foundation of Galatasaray’s triumph, knocking out Mourinho’s Fenerbahce and reinforcing Osimhen’s status as a clutch performer.

With his goal tally now at 31 for club and country this season, Osimhen’s latest masterclass has only amplified his growing legend.

For his teammates and Nigerian football luminaries, it’s clear: the goal machine is operating at a level that demands respect across the board.
